GiG Partners with Betway for Portuguese Launch

GiG is assisting Betway in its entry into the Portuguese marketplace.

GiG is collaborating with Betway to aid the online sports wagering operator in its launch in Portugal.

The agreement was made public in April of 2022. Betway obtained its sports betting and online gaming permit in February of 2020.

Betway is the second business-to-business partner that GiG has introduced in Portugal. GoldenPark also went live in the nation last year utilizing GiG’s player account management and sports wagering services.

“As part of our ambitious growth plan for Portugal in 2024, the GiG platform will aid us in accelerating our objectives, enhancing the sports betting experience for existing Betway Portugal patrons, and attracting new customers,” stated Betway CEO Anthony Werkman.

“This accord will also enable our teams to work together to achieve our shared objectives and aspirations in the nation.”

This agreement is the inaugural one for the new GiG management team headed by Chad Carter and Andrew Cochrane, former SBTech and DraftKings executives. The dual appointments are part of a restructuring that will see GiG’s business divided.

After a strategic examination initiated in February of this year, GiG has made the decision to divide the company. This separation will segregate GiG Media’s affiliate branch and platform from the sports wagering division, establishing them as independent entities.

The media division encompasses all of GiG’s media offerings, such as its affiliate marketing services. The platform and sports betting division covers the technological betting platform, including Sportnco, which GiG acquired in April of last year, front-end development, and other administrative services.

Carter, previously the chief executive of SBTech, was named the head of the platform and sports betting division last August. Cochran joined the division as the Chief Commercial Officer in November.

Commenting on the new business venture in Portugal, Cochran stated that the agreement helps solidify GiG’s leading position in the business-to-business industry.

“This is a very exciting period to be joining GiG,” Cochran remarked. “We continue to invest in our product and technological capabilities to support the success of more top-tier clientele and deliver even more engaging product features to our existing customers.”

GiG Finalizes Acquisition of KaFe Rocks
This announcement also follows GiG’s completion of the acquisition of affiliate group KaFe Rocks last month. The group operates over 30 brands across 20+ markets, including Time2Play and USCasinos.

This transaction comes a year after GiG acquired AskGamblers. GiG stated that the deal strengthens GiG Media’s leading position in the online casino affiliate space, particularly in North America.

GiG also stated that this agreement will aid them in expanding their operations into fresh territories.
