Oregons sports betting earnings continued to rise in May, reaching a new peak of $5 million. This signifies a substantial increase of 108.3% compared to May 2021 and also surpasses April’s earnings.
The May total was considerably higher than the $2.4 million recorded in the same month last year and also showed a 31.6% increase from the $3.8 million generated in April.
Player spending also saw a substantial rise, increasing 50.5% year-on-year from $27.7 million to $41.7 million. However, this was slightly less than the $42.9 million observed in April 2022.
DraftKings, which teamed up with the Oregon Lottery, generated $5 million in revenue from $41.7 million in player wagers in April.
In contrast, the Oregon Lottery’s Scoreboard online sports betting platform, which has been gradually removed and replaced by DraftKings, received $33,440 in wagers and paid out $35,729.
Basketball remained the most popular sport among players, attracting $18.2 million in wagers on DraftKings and $24,388 on Scoreboard, generating $2.6 million in revenue.
Baseball followed closely behind, attracting $10.1 million in wagers and $1.2 million in revenue on DraftKings, followed by football, which attracted $3.3 million in wagers on DraftKings and $6,813 on Scoreboard, generating $326,778 in revenue.
Regarding the types of bets players placed in April, the majority were on basketball, followed by baseball and football.
On DraftKings, individuals wagered a total of eight million dollars on individual wagers and combined bets, with an additional ten point nine million dollars allocated to combined bets.
The scenario was comparable on Scoreboard, where thirty-one thousand three hundred sixty-three dollars was wagered on individual bets and combined bets, with only two thousand seventy-seven dollars directed towards combined bets.
